In this video, I documented the steps I took to wrap a base mesh model around the scanned head.
I start by loading in the scanned geometry with a 'LoadGeom' node and call it "Scan" to avoid confusion.
I attach its texture via a 'LoadImage' node
I then create another 'LoadGeom' node and load in a basemesh supplied by Wrap3 that fits my scan. I call it "Basemesh" to avoid confusion.
I then create a 'SelectPoints' node attached to the basemesh and scan and create points on both the Scan and the basemesh which the software will use to help match the facial features such as the eyes, ears and mouth.
I then create a 'SelectPolygons' node attached to the basemesh which I use to select the polygons on the basemesh which I do not want to be projected. This includes the mouth socket inside the basemesh and the back of the head since I do not want the hat on the scan to be projected over.
I now create a 'Wrapping' node which I connect the Basemesh, Scan, 'SelectPoints' and 'SelectPolygons' node to. This connects all the information I have given into one node for the software to read.
I hit 'Compute' and wait for the magic to happen! The software now wraps the basemesh around the scan creating India's likeness with a clean, animatable topology!
I clean the newly wrapped head in Maya, by fixing the vertices under the chin.
